As you know by now, trying different wigs on American Girl dolls is one of my favorite pastimes! Happiness points too numerous to count! Sis sits on the floor in front of the hutch “wig drawer” (one of three in the house) and hands them to me one at a time. I put them on the doll, take the photos, and then hand the wig back to my sister to put away in the correct bag. (We work so well together. It’s a twin thing, you know.) Mom is always impressed by the fact that I don’t need to read the names/numbers on the bags but know instantly what Sis is holding out to me. She says she used to have a memory like that but can no longer remember when that was.
“Wig Play” (as my friend calls it) is fun with every doll, but some dolls are better at it than others. Claudie turned out to be one of those on the A+ side! (Surprising, since I didn’t like her enough to keep one before we did this.) She’s adorable in so many different wigs that you can’t help but love her! It’s been hard to pick a favorite, but the Melody wig was particularly appealing — both down and braided.
The close runner-up for us was a wig from a later JLY #13, with its smaller modified bangs. This wig just looks amazing on every doll, but it’s especially appealing on Claudie!
In fact, there were too many cute wig photos to highlight them all, so I’m embedding a slideshow for you. (This can also be found now on the Customizing with Wigs page.) As usual, the pictures are pretty much organized by length and color (starting out with short hair in dark brown), except that I had to spotlight that Melody wig at the front.
But don’t stop here. I’ve never done an entry with any of the other dolls like the one that will hopefully be up by tomorrow. I think I’m beginning to see possibilities for this doll. Take a look at both blog entries before making a decision. Who knows . . . you might need more than one.
