Using nuiMOs Clothes with Baby Blix & Co.

After years of having to search online for a used Baby Polly, American Girl finally decided to release 8-inch baby dolls that are perfect for your 18-inch doll’s little sibling or their own Bitty Baby doll. And it seems like it’s feast or famine, because now there are three options for these irresistible cuties. The first Truly Me “Caring for Baby” set features a light skin-tone baby with dark brown hair and brown eyes (all photos in this blog entry feature that baby), while the second Truly Me set with the same name features a dark skin-tone baby with black hair and dark eyes. And the newest addition to the group is GOTY Corinne’s baby brother, Blix. All three babies are the same exact mold with different skin tones and painted details.
For a comparison of the new baby vs. the Baby Polly, see our older blog entry.

One big problem for all of us who are just thrilled with these babies is the big lack of clothing and accessories available from American Girl. While there are some great options for clothes on Etsy and accessories from Target, this blog entry today is going to show how some of the Disney nuiMOs outfits are absolutely adorable. The options change regularly and are available online at ShopDisney.com. Be sure to watch for sales and markdowns, because you can get some real deals!

The photos above show two of the Caring for Baby  dolls with a nuiMO Stitch and a variety of clothes. While these nuiMOs clothes are not made with the finest quality materials or craftsmanship, they offer a wide variety of styles, colors and options at an affordable price (when taking advantage of regular sales/markdowns). We snagged these six outfits on the big seasonal sale last month.

Obviously, there’s quite a difference in height between the nuiMOs and the babies, so long pants and sleeves will look like shorts and short sleeves on the babies. It’s a good thing to keep in mind when considering the different outfits. Baby’s waist is also a little slimmer, causing some of the shorts/pants to look a bit loose (as shown in the photos below). If the nuiMOs shorts have an elastic waistband, you won’t have this issue.  The shorts don’t seem to fall down, regardless of the waistband type, and the shirts on all the outfits we bought cover the top of the shorts.

Also, the outfits are only released for a limited time (two or three months, on average), but there are always new options coming out. That said, let’s get on to the fashion fun!

Tie-Die Hoodie Set

This outfit was definitely a great color combination and mix-and-match option with the original Caring for Baby outfit. I would put a small stitch at the back of the hood to hold it down to the back of the outfit as seen in the pictures, because it has a tendency to stick straight up. Here are some photos showing the mix-and-match possibilities.

Vest, Top and Pants Set

If you need a very boyish outfit for Blix or your other baby, then this is a must. As of the date of this entry, this outfit is still available on a clearance markdown price at ShopDisney, but I wouldn’t wait too long. The pictures really speak for this one. Shirt velcros up the back

Rain Jacket and Rain Boots

This little rain coat is a great addition to baby’s wardrobe. The boots included with the set are way too big, but they could possibly fit a Wellie Wisher doll!

Jumpsuit and Hat Set

We bought this one for Truannie, since Harold like the military theme. It velcros on the front top half and wasn’t the easiest thing to put on (though it came off lickety-split). The felt hat can be seen on the nuiMO in one of the first images at the top of the entry and is definitely way too large for baby.

Tropical Print Jumpsuit and Headband

Naturally, this outfit was an absolute must for Islandshire. It’s a sort of shiny acetate-type material and fits perfectly. If you’re wanting a headband, then the original Caring for Baby one is a great match (forgot to get a picture of it here).

Jacket and Plaid Shirt Set

Another fun option for the boyish look, this outfit has the same exact blue shorts from the “Vest, Top and Pants” set above. All of these pieces were very easy to put on and fit great. Lots of mix-and-match possibilities with these pieces.

We have one other nuiMOs outfit — the Hawaiian shirts and shorts set shown on Stitch in the top photos. I forgot to photograph them on baby, but they fit great. The shorts look like perfect swimming trunks. So far, this is the whole wardrobe for our little babies, but there are some homemade pieces in the works right now. Can’t wait ’til they’re finished and ready for a blog entry of their own!

As a final shot, here’s a picture that was just adorable but not really necessary. We’ll include it just for fun!
