Since we weren’t interested in having a Kavi doll, a friend had us pick one out for him at the store and offered to let us do our wig photos on it before we shipped it. Mom and I didn’t much like the Marie Grace mold before, but Elizabeth (my sister) has always been crazy about it. Well, so many of you have asked for wig photos of Kavi, we dewigged our friend’s doll and dug into the wig drawers. Boy, by the time we were halfway through, we were sure that Sis needed one of these. By the end, Mom was sure that I needed one, too. We went back to the store a week later for Elizabeth’s doll (I’m just going to enjoy hers), and we couldn’t be happier. “Leonor”, commonly known as Leo (pronounced Lay-o by the Cubans), was named and characterized for a very dear cousin of our Cuban grandparents who has brought much happiness to our family since before we were born. She’s one of the most genuinely sweet and happy people I’ve ever known, with a very high, lyrical voice that talks at the speed of light (Spanish only, of course, which already sounds fast to my English-speaking ear). She’s also the most feminine person I’ve ever met, with a gift for doing the most amazing beaded needlework and surrounding herself with everything pink and white. She’s absolutely crazy about pink roses, even having filled her live potted tropical plants with artificial roses all over the green branches. She’s a loving wife and mother, and we miss her a lot (haven’t been back to Miami in many years). Would you like to see her wedding picture beside a photo of Lizzy’s doll?
Let’s get to the wig photos, now. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did taking them. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. Elizabeth actually decided to leave Leo as she came from the box (a rarity in our house). The wigs are presented here in order, light to dark.
