Needle-Felted Wool Sculpture

Pin Trading Jawa Needle-Felted Wool Sculpture (as seen in George Lucas' "Star Wars" films)

This special Disney-Pin-Trading Jawa is the first time I've based a doll on a character from the "Star Wars" films. He's a very outgoing fellow who can spot a serious pin-trader when he sees one — rather than offer one of those scrapper pins in his bag, he's offering his best genuine "Tatooine Traders" pin!

The idea for this doll came about because a friend of ours is crazy about Jawas, but there's not very much you can get as a surprise in that theme. (They're not exactly the most common of the Star Wars characters!) This friend is also a very keen collector and trader of Disney pins, so combining the two interests seemed like a great subject for a needle-felted doll.

The Jawa stands 8-1/2" tall and weighs in at 2-1/2 ounces. He was felted with .40 and .42 gauge needles and features a nice hand-stitched leather cross-body bag for his goods. The base of his body is made of dark brown Romney, and his head and clothes are 100% Merino wool. One of the particularly fun features about this doll are the glow-in-the-dark eyes — created by adding pigment to his needle-felted eyes!
