7:30-8:30 --- WIDE COUNTRY has a pleasant little story which achieves some distinction by surprising you along the way. Just when you think you can spot the way the plot is going to zig, it zags. Dan Duryea is the star, playing a rodeo clown, afflicted with arthritis and a spoiled, spend-thrift son. The old man keeps working so he can buy his son the necessities. The climactic crisis brings out a reaction from the boy which might not be expected. Duryea jumped at the chance to play this role.
