In real life Dan's a thoroughly respectable citizen and very much a gentleman. But his screen roles show him as about the most despicable, meanest, most loathsome heel ever filmed, with a particular flair for slapping defenseless women around. So what? So Dan is flooded with fan mail from ladies who just ado-o-ore him, some to the point of proposing. What gives, gal?
